M.Sc. 2017
NOTE: Matt defended his thesis in Dec 2017 and started his Ph.D. thesis in Dr. Zoe Lindo’s lab at Western University right after that.
I finished my undergraduate in Honors Environmental Science at Western University in the Spring of 2015. During my final year, I completed an undergraduate thesis supervised by Dr. Zoë Lindo on the effects of different configurations of disturbance on soil mesofauna. During this thesis is when I found my passion for mites. For my MSc. I am working with Heather Proctor to study and catalogue the mesostigmatid mites that inhabit Alberta. More specifically, I will be using mesostigmatid mites as bioindicators and comparing oil sand developed sites with undisturbed boreal forest to determine the differences in mite communities.
